Zach Elder, ASF athlete, returns to the X Games and wins silver.

For the second year in a row, Zach Elder, member of the ASF Snowboard Race Team returned to the X

Games in Aspen to compete in the Special Olympics Unified Snowboard Experience Races.  Zach was one of 10 athletes with special needs who were paired with an X Game athlete and competed as a team in a dual giant slalom race on Thursday, January 28, 2016.  Zach competed last year with Scotty James winning a bronze medal.  This year, Zach competed with Danny Davis, a Burton team member and a two time X Games Super Pipe gold medalist and won silver.

First in 2014, the Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding races combine athletes – with and without intellectual disabilities – as teammates to showcase the power of Special Olympics’ Unified Sports®, which helps unite communities and foster an environment of acceptance and inclusion. Half a million people worldwide take part in Special Olympics Unified Sports® competitions, helping to break down stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities.
