Multi-Sport Summer Recreation Weekend

The ASF offers a variety of summer sport opportunities all right here in Windham. Our Multi-Sport Summer Recreation Weekend is designed to introduce a wide variety of sport and physical activities to folks of all abilities. Throughout the four days, students will have the opportunity to participate in Hiking, Soccer, Wiffle Ball and Kickball, Basketball, Paddling, Golf, and many more activities!

Multi-Sport Summer Recreation Weekend is open to participants of all ages and all abilities. However, the ASF is primarily an Adaptive Sports education program, and is not a Skilled Nursing Facility, so if participants need support in using the restroom, we ask that a parent or aide be present with them for the duration of the program. Parents, aides, and caregivers are all welcome in all activities during camp as well – the more the merrier!

Summer Recreation Activities

Lake Activities

  • Multi-Sport Camp is held at CD Lane Park, which is home to a beautiful lake nestled in between the Thomas Cole Mountain Range. The park offers a picturesque facility to explore kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming.
  • All watercraft and life vests will be provided by the ASF.
  • During all lake activities, the ASF will have a lifeguard on duty.

Bike Riding

  • Try mountain biking on the paths and park roads of CD Lane. We will learn about the bikes and the best techniques to ride on varied terrain.
  • If you have your own bike, please let us know.

Basketball

  • Campers will learn basic basketball skills and participate in friendly competitions.

Soccer

  • Campers will learn basic soccer skills and participate in friendly competitions.

Hiking/Nature Walks

  • There are beautiful trails scattered throughout CD Lane Park and Rip Van Winkle Lake Park, making them great places to explore. Campers will hike, roll, or ride their way through the trails and learn more about different trees, plants, and wildlife along the way.

Alpaca Farm Visit

  • While this is a Multi-Sport Camp, we have a tradition here where the last morning of each camp session is spent with our friends at Rhuelmann’s Alpaca Farm. Our dear friend Heidi and our skateboard volunteer Frank love to show our campers these curious and timid creatures, and our campers love feeding them apples, carrots, and pellets! We then return to ASF to have a BBQ lunch where all family, aides, and caregivers are welcome to join.
