With mixed emotions, we announce the departure of Cherisse Young as the Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Director of Development. While we will all miss Cherisse, we are glad to see her continue in her commitment to nonprofit work as she joins the development office at Siena College, her alma mater, starting this fall. Building on the strong foundation of giving in the ASF community, we have begun the search that will help us continue the forward momentum of recent business and fundraising initiatives.
We are proud of Cherisse’s many accomplishments at the ASF, including helping to establish our newly created Advisory and Development Board, which is dedicated to major gifts. She has also continued to be instrumental in securing and managing significant grants for support of our Warriors in Motion programming, and most recently ASF’s virtual fitness programming, Move Together Apart, which has been a huge success with our athletes.
Cherisse will remain involved with the ASF as a consultant to ensure a smooth transition and proprietary knowledge transfer. Cherisse has been an employee of the ASF since 1996 starting as a fundraising specialist under ASF Founder, Gwen Allard, who promoted her to Administrative/Development Director in 2000. After obtaining her master’s degree in nonprofit management, she was promoted to Executive Director by the Board of Trustees in 2004 when Gwen retired. In 2014, Cherisse transitioned to Director of Development when the ASF named a new executive director to coordinate a new growth initiative.
Please join us in thanking Cherisse for an outstanding career of service to the Adaptive Sports Foundation and wishing her well in this next chapter in her life!
