Three runners will be representing and raising money for the Adaptive Sports Foundation by participating in the 2024 BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday, September 29. We had a Q & A with one of our runners, Ajita Abraham that we would like to share with everyone! Please consider donating to Ajita’s fundraising page by clicking here.
ASF: How old were you when you first started running and what did you like most about it?
AA: I was 25 years old.
ASF: What inspired you to pursue the Berlin marathon and why did you choose to run for the ASF?
AA: This year is the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Marathon. I also ran for the 50th Anniversary of the NYC Marathon. I like ASF’s mission of providing access to sports to those with disabilities.
ASF: What’s your go-to running playlist/song?
TU: A mix of Latin and Bollywood songs.
ASF: What’s the best meal or snack you like to eat after a long run?
AA: Coconut Water and Chex Mix.
ASF: Do you have a “running buddy?” If so, how do they impact your run?
AA: Lori Pennay is my running buddy and also running in the Berlin Marathon. She inspires me to keep running marathons. Berlin will be our fourth marathon together.
ASF: Tell us about your training regimen. What did you do to prepare for the marathon?
AA: I don’t have much time to train as an attorney with three kids, but I make sure to get two or three long runs of 18-20 miles before the marathon.
ASF: What are you looking forward to the most on marathon race day?
AA: Crossing the finish line!
ASF: You told us you’ve been to Berlin before. what is your favorite thing to do in the city?
AA: I really enjoy going to Checkpoint Charlie and hanging out in the cafes.
Good Luck Ajita, and thank you for choosing to run with
