ASF in the NYC Marathon – Claire Scavone

Five runners will be representing and raising money for the Adaptive Sports Foundation by participating in the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 2. We’re kicking off our Marathon Monday campaign with a Q & A with Claire Scavone! Please consider donating to Claire’s fundraising page by clicking here.

ASF: Are there any running superstitions or pre-race rituals you swear by?

CS: The night before, I like to make sure my outfit and my playlist are all set to go!

ASF: Do you have a personal mantra or quote that keeps you going during a long run?

CS: I remind myself that “I’ve got this”.

ASF: What’s your “treat yourself” reward after finishing a training session?

CS: An extremely long nap!

ASF: Is there a particular run or training moment you’re especially proud of?

CS: Prior to marathon training, I had never run a half marathon so hitting that milestone in training was memorable for me.

ASF: Do you prefer running or training in the morning or in the afternoon?

CS: I prefer to run in the morning (but not too early).

ASF: How do you stay motivated on those tough days when running feels like a slog?

CS: I stay motivated by picturing my family and friends cheering me on during the race and at the finish line.

ASF: What’s your post-marathon celebration plan

CS: A celebratory beer with some family and friends!

ASF: Have you ever been to NYC? If so, what are your favorite spots in the city and if not, what are you looking forward to most about exploring a new city?

CS: I have lived across the river in Hoboken, N.J. the past few years. I love going into NYC to spend time with friends. I’m excited to make it through all 5 boroughs on race day!

ASF: How did you first learn about the ASF? What made you want to get involved?

CS: I have grown up skiing with my family in Windham. It has been so amazing seeing the ASF’s athletes out on the slopes over the years. I’m grateful to be involved!

ASF: What does running for the ASF mean to you personally?

CS:As someone who enjoys being active, and especially skiing, I have always admired ASF’s mission to ensure that all can access and enjoy outdoor activities.

Good Luck Claire, and thank you for choosing to run with Team ASF in the TCS NYC Marathon!
