ASF Competition Team alum Staci Mannella earned three World Cup medals in Karnjska Gora, Slovenia last week in a tune up for this week’s World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy. Staci and her guide Sadie DeBaun picked up two silvers and a gold last week and opened their hunt for World Championship gold by earning a bronze medal in the Super Combined in Tarvisio. The women found themselves 8 seconds behind after the Super G, often an insurmountable amount of time. However Staci and Sadie turned in a smoking hot slalom run to move themselves all the way to the third step of the podium for Staci’s first World Championship medal. At the same time ASF skiers are finding success on the slopes, Adaptive Sports Foundation athlete Dawn Macomber was in Oberhof, Germany for the weekend’s World Cup para-bobsled races. Dawn is racing in a field of all men and is holding her own. She finished 14th out of 20 men in Oberhof and gets faster with each trip down the track. Dawn will follow the German races with the Para-bobsled & Skeleton World Championships in St. Moritz next week. She will be racing February 4th and 5th. Dawn was first introduced to para-bobsled during an Adaptive Sports Foundation sponsored camp in Lake Placid.
