Wheelchair, home of the Windham NASTAR course. To make the race competitive between people with varying disabilities, times are factored or multiplied by a number based on disability classification. The Eric D. Dettenrieder Race Camp which precedes the Level I race and the Diana Golden race series is designed to be an introductory opportunity for children and adults with disabilities who are interested in learning more about adaptive ski and snowboard racing.   The EDD race camp and Diana Golden race series were the breeding ground for many Paralympic racers including ASF’s own Caitlin Sarubbi (2010 Paralympian) and Staci Mannella (2014 Paralympian).

Caitlin Sarubbi who was one of the first participants in the ASF’s race program and a member of the US Winter Paralympic team that competed in the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver, Canada was this year’s forerunner for the Level I Race.  Sarubbi, a visually impaired former Alpine National Champion, stated “It was so great to get back in the start gate last weekend, and even better seeing all of the up-and-coming racers out there.  It brought me right back to my start as a racer at the Diana Golden races here at the Adaptive Sports Foundation at Windham Mountain.  It is inspiring to see other young athletes following their dreams, just like I had the opportunity to do.”

This year the ASF’s Eric D. Dettenrieder Race Camp had over 30 participants and the Level I race had 20 racers.
