Hurricane Aftermath Update: Windham and ASF

The ASF building is fine as are all the ASF employees.  We came through Hurricane Irene and the floods relatively unscathed and we are very fortunate that all of our employees and their homes are safe.

The ASF is still without power which is prohibiting us from sending out a blast email because we can’t access our servers.   Below are bullet points of updates from Windham Mountain and the town.  Please forward this to your friends so we can get the word out.  The rumors and misinformation is starting to fly so we are trying to get accurate info out there.

-ASF building okay and all staff okay.  ASF building still out of power so anyone wanting to get in touch with us please contact Cherisse Young via email or 518-527-8757.

-Windham Mountain suffered significant flooding to the base lodge including the 3500 club, ski shop, rental shop, ski patrol, pro room and admin offices and CLC.

-Windham Mountain did lose their pump house and A lift suffered significant damage.

-Windham Mountain is operating on limited power and is putting their admin infrastructure back together.  Please stay tuned to their Facebook page for updates.

-Windham Mountain is requesting that people please stay away from base lodge until they have communicated it is safe to go there.  They will also soon communicate to 3500 club and private club members the locker room situation and the next steps.

-Cherisse was there yesterday and saw mountain ops already digging out A lift.  Professional recovery cleaners were in the lodge cleaning up.  Managing Director Randy MacDonald was on site working with senior management on a recovery plan.

-Although they have a lot of work ahead of them, WINDHAM MOUNTAIN WILL OPEN FOR THE SKI SEASON.

-Town of Windham suffered significant damage and many of the businesses were under water.  Clean up is underway.  However, the US ARMY and National Guard are still in town and they are requesting that only full time residents enter town.  Although reconstruction is well underway many roads and bridges were washed out and they are limiting travel to local residents only.  Majority of power has been restored to Main Street and surrounding areas.

-A fund has been set up to help rebuild Main Street.  Click here to make donations.

As soon as the ASF Bldg gets power, we will send a broadcast email out. For now  you can log onto WRIP 97.9 for local up-to-date information. Stay tuned to the ASF Facebook page and Windham Mountain’s Facebook page for updates.
