It is with a heavy heart that the ASF shares the news of the passing of Neil “Doc” Jordan on Sunday, September 1. Doc was a volunteer who just finished his 10th season with the ASF.
A U.S. Veteran himself, Doc volunteered at every Warriors in Motion® event he could over his tenure with the ASF, teaching veterans and their families how to snowboard during the Bob Stubbs Warriors in Motion Winter Sports Weekend and driving the ASF shuttle bus at every WIM summer event. His low, booming voice was unique, and as soon as he entered the Gwen Allard Adaptive Sports Center, he would immediately ask, “something needs doing?”
Doc described volunteering with the ASF the greatest joy of his life, next to spending time with his grandchildren. He brought his “no man left behind” mentality that he adopted through the U.S. Armed Forces to his volunteering efforts, and when someone said that they couldn’t, he would help them prove themselves wrong. The ASF family will miss hearing Doc’s animated stories, his colorful way of explaining things and his presence in the ASF lodge all year round.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA 18428. Visitation will be immediately prior from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Read Doc’s full obituary here.
In remembrance of Doc, those who wish may make contributions to Adaptive Sports Foundation can do so here.
