Windham Fine Arts opens first winter show of 2011, December 17th

A fine art gallery nestled in the Catskill mountain resort town of Windham, WFA is neither “white cube” nor “quaintly cluttered.” The atmosphere is casual, local and intimate. The contemporary artists we represent work in diverse styles and subjects: Contemporary Realism, Impressionistic, Classical/Traditional, and Abstraction.  In addition to the traditional “Opening Reception” for each exhibition, WFA hosts the Windham Chamber Music Festival receptions, and a Wine and Art Auction to benefit the Adaptive Sports Foundation at Windham Mountain. We look forward to an exciting winter season.

December 17 – January 9: WFA’s first winter show of 2011, “Beholden to Beauty”, Featuring Works by Kevin Cook, Mireille Duchesne & Lisbeth Firmin

As the title of the show suggests, some painters can do no better than to make it their life practice to pay homage to beauty.  Whether it’s a landscape, still life, or figurative work, they struggle to make the arcane beauty all around them accessible to others through the vehicle of the painted surface and their chosen palette.

This December, Windham Fine Arts Gallery pays tribute to such ‘beauty-stricken’ painters.  Come in and experience for yourself Kevin Cook’s romantic landscapes, depicting fabulous regional beauty, the exquisitely rendered still lifes of Mireille Duchesne, who notices the beauty in everyday objects, and Lisbeth Firmin’s street-based scenes, illuminating the beauty of ordinary people well-incorporating into their settings.  Truly diverse and inspiring, there will be something for everyone hanging on the walls this holiday season at the gallery. The show’s opening reception is Saturday, December 17 from 3-5pm.

December 28, 2011 from 6-8pm: WFA Winter Wine Tasting & Auction to Benefit the Adaptive Sports Foundation

The evening includes a wine tasting conducted by representatives from Hudson Wine Merchants, who specialize in hand-selected wines from many regions around the world, concentrating on the best boutique wines.  Along with the wine tasting, Claudia and Stéphane Desgaches from one of Windham’s finest restaurants, Bistro Brie and Bordeaux, will serve a sampling of heavy hors d’ouerves.

A Live Auction will feature bottles of fine wine and artworks by WFA artists!
