JAY, Vt. – Bruce Williams competed and took home the silver medal at the final event of the Ski Vertical Challenge, hosted by Jay Peak on April 9th, 2022.
What is the Ski Vertical Challenge? The Ski Vertical Challenge is a series of free casual ski and snowboard races held at ski resorts throughout the northeast during each winter season. Skiers and snowboarders are divided by gender and age to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in each category. In addition to the races, attendees enjoy a festival element, featuring snowy activities for all ages, plus prizes given away throughout a fun day at the mountain.
This is the second-straight year that Bruce has medaled at Jay Peak. In 2020, he qualified at an event held at Windham Mountain, but the finals were canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. His qualification carried over to the 2021 finals where he brought home the gold. To learn more about these exciting events, here is the direct link to the series: LINK
In other news, I recently attended the PSIA/AASI National Academy at Big Sky, Montana. National Academy is a premier 5-day event where you can get intensive training and personal development from some of the best skiers/riders in the country.
Becoming a National Team member is the highest accomplishment in our industry. The team members represent the United States at an event called Interski. Held every four years, Interski brings instructors together from around the world and the event offers a valuable education opportunity to share innovations and core beliefs. It gives PSIA-AASI, through its National Team, an opportunity to compare the American Teaching System with educational approaches of other countries and bring home ideas that help PSIA-AASI members improve and evolve. Interski 2023 will be held in Levi, Finland.
