On December 1, 2015 at Mount Snow Resort, Gwen Allard received the Einar Aas Award for Excellence in Snowsports School Management from the Professional Ski Instructors of American – American Association of Snowboard Instructors Eastern Division.

The Einar Aas Award is presented to a snowsports school director or management staff in the Eastern Division as a tribute to Einar Aas and to honor his memory. Einar was an

outstanding snowsports school director; his dedication to his students, his school, this organization (both divisionally and nationally) and the snowsports industry is legendary. This award recognizes dynamic leadership of a snowsports school while achieving and maintaining the highest standards, as nominated by members and selected by his/her peers.

Allard founded the Ski Windham Adaptive Program in 1983. She is responsible for building the Disabled Ski Program at Ski Windham into one of the country’s leading adaptive sport programs. Allard saw the program evolve from a small ski program with less than 20 volunteer instructors to a large multi sport and season program with 250 instructors and staff. Allard retired in 2005 just as the doors to the 8,000 square foot Gwen Allard Adaptive Sports Center opened its doors. The Center was the realization of Allard’s twenty-year vision to build a place where individuals with disabilities could realize their full athletic potential. Allard was nominated for the Einar Aas Award by ASF volunteer instructors Jennie Crossley and Nancy Geibel.

Congratulations Gwen!
