This past winter, a group from the Pediatric Patient and Family Care of the Hospital for Special Surgery of New York City came to the ASF for a ski day.  Patients and their family members made the trip to Windham Mountain Resort for a day on the slopes.  Below is a letter we received from Peyton Katz, Pediatric Patient and Family Care Coordinator and the organizer of the trip.

 

“Thank you again for helping us to coordinate a wonderful day of skiing for our patients last month!!  I wanted to share a few pictures with you from the day as well as some quotes from our kids and families from their feedback surveys.

One of the questions we included for this trip was “What is something you would like your adaptive ski volunteers to know about the day?” One patient responded “they made me very happy to be able to be like other kids without disabilities.”  Another wrote, “they made my day and it was great talking and getting to know them and their backgrounds. Thank you.”

Asked what they appreciated most about the trip, one mother wrote about her daughter, “No one looked at her differently and she was accepted.”  A teenage boy wrote, “we had a great time and we built our confidence that we can do anything.”

Thanks to you, your team and your volunteers for bringing this incredible joy and confidence to our kids and families!!! On the bus ride home the kids were already asking about next year’s trip!  I look forward to working with you again to make another amazing day happen next year!”
