On Saturday May 27th, 2017 the town of Tannersville, New York hosted a free outdoor concert called Rock the Vets at Rip Van Winkle Lake. The proceeds from the concession stand and T-shirt sales at the event were donated to Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Warriors in Motion program. This concert not only raised some money for ASF, it also raised awareness of the Warriors in Motion program. The benefit featured a lineup of local bands; Guilty Pleasure, Tas Cru and Johnny Scarecrow. The event showcased local craft and food vendors and other fun outdoor activities. Thank you to Mayor Lee McGunnigle and the town of Tannersville for all the support!
The ASF’s Warriors in Motion (WIM) program provides participating injured United States servicemen and women with a basic knowledge and practice of wellness and the importance of lifelong healthful living. Each event includes adaptive sports and nutrition instruction as well as other healthful practices such as yoga, and stress reduction techniques. Over the course of the event, there is also time for the participants to connect with each other. We view the time that veterans spend together as an essential part of their healing. All Warriors in Motion programs are goal oriented and empower warrior, to take charge of their own fitness and wellness.
